Hahonin Family
Sergej Hahonin was born in Chernogorsk, USSR. In 1977, he graduated with honors from the V.I. Surikova Art Gymnasium in Krasnoyarsk.
In 1984, he graduated from the Siberian Academy of Fine Arts in Krasnoyarsk, specializing in ceramics and pottery. From 1985 to 1991, he worked for a state-owned company in Krasnoyarsk, creating folk art as a painter and serving as the head of the Association of Contemporary Art.
His numerous exhibitions led to his membership in the Association of Painters and Sculptors of the Soviet Union. Since 1979, he has actively participated in art exhibitions at local, national, and international levels.
Since 1993, Sergej and his family have lived and worked in Ljubljana, Slovenia, creating unique ceramics and paintings that are deeply intertwined with Slovenian culture and traditions.
His works have been exhibited in museums and collections in Russia, Germany, Australia, Portugal, Slovenia, and the United States.
Ljuba Hahonina was born in Abakan, in the Russian minority region of Khakassia, Soviet Union. She studied painting at the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Art in Siberia.
Hahonina has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as both a painter and curator in Russia and Slovenia. Her works have been exhibited in museums and collections across Russia, Australia, Finland, Slovakia, Hungary, USA, Japan, and Slovenia.
Sergej’s daughters, Ksenija and Nastasija, live and work in London, UK, since 2007.
